I must be honest when I tell you that I have not had a working clothesline since last Monday. Someone is clearly irked as we had yet another round of high winds, driving rains, and power outages. More limbs came down at Chez WannaGreenie knocking out my clothesline yet again.
So while we rumble out of the wreakage, what's going on at Chez Vous? Let's hear from the Novices, shall we? This means you Carrie, the Browns, kkmamakai, and Yay Pie. How goez it?
On a personal note, I am pleased as punch to finally be able to announce that I will be beginning a new job of sorts as an elementary school librarian in the fall. What are some of your favorite books from your days as a K-5er?

I loved series: Trixie Belden, Encyclopedia Brown, anything by Beverly Cleary or Judy Blume, the Black Stallion, Bunnicula, Alvin Fernald, Nancy Drew, Hardy Boys... I also loved survival stories: Incredible Journey, Island of the Blue Dolphins, Hatchet... I think I've named every Scholastic or Dell book from the early 80s. I still have nearly all my childhood books and I read them now with my boys.
The clothesline challenge is going great! So far, I've hung 100% of our laundry to dry. I still only have one drying rack and need to expand badly. I live in a condo and really need to put up a clothesline on my porch instead of the inside-overnight drying rack. It also seems like I do alot of laundry every day but it's because I run out of drying spaces and then I'm waiting for the wet clothes to dry. Once I have more room, I'm sure it'll go smoother. I'm really enjoying this challenge.

Congratulations on the job! Pippi Longstocking is one of my standout favourites. Gracie and I are reading and loving it together right now.
So far clothesline-ing has been groovy! While it's rather rainy around here, every once in a while I get a nice sunny day so I try to wait for those to do my laundry :) and hopefully it also lands on a weekend and I can do multiple loads.
I think I still would qualify as a novice since I'm fluffing the towels in the dryer (for only a few minutes I swear!) but I've line-dried all the linens, blankets, dog towels, and even a couple loads of fabric I picked up at an estate sale.
Not to be obnoxious or anything... I keep thinking about what I loved to read as a young thing. Little House on the Prairie, Little Princess and Secret Garden, Kipling's Just So Stories...My "to reread" list keeps on getting longer.
Does Judy Blume stand the test of time for today's 5th graders? Loved those books. Looking forward to your tales of the library!
Can I still join the Clothesline Challenge? I can finally join b/c I just got a clothesline for my anniversary. Yeah! Sign me up for intermediate. I'd say advanced, but we have an insane amount of laundry. I'll do as much as I can on the line.
I loved the book "Mandy", "Anne of Green Gables" (the series), "Little Women," oh, and I still adore all the Ramona books, they are so freaking good. They stand the test of time. Faith for years listened to them on tape--they are read by Stockard Channing and she is so very good.
With my daughter in Germany, husband back in Maryland and college graduate son doing his own laundry in his own apartment, you think this would be an easy challenge. But I've been so busy I'd barely done any laundry until today. And now that it's done, I'm finally getting in some blog reading after a two week plus deprivation, I confess, I failed to use the clothes line. I'll keep trying though.
